Story
So after many delaying tactics, we decided to take part in the Race the Sun Brecon Beacons challenge!
Our team of four are taking part in this tough dawn to dusk event where we shall cycle 55 miles around the incredible winding lanes of the Brecons, navigate a 2-mile course on Lake Llangorse, and finally summit of Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons with an altitude of 886m, on an 8-mile round trip to raise money for this incredible cause.
The cause: By our taking part in Race the Sun, we are hoping to further help Action Medical Research in its continued great work by funding part of their vital medical research for sick and vulnerable babies and children. Action Medical Research are the leading UK charity funding vital research to help defeat the diseases that devastate the lives of sick and disabled babies, children and young people. At Action Medical Research they are determined to stop the suffering of babies and children caused by disease and disability. By supporting us and in turn them, you are helping to find ways to reduce premature birth, to support children facing a lifetime of challenges caused by disabilities, and to develop cutting-edge therapies for rare and incurable diseases.

About us; 4 middle aged guys with relatively young families. All unfit but making a play to be more fit this year whilst also raising money for a good cause. We all have differing abilities in the context of cardio and strength and all of us are terrible swimmers at the point of writing this, so the canoeing maybe dangerous (we haven’t a clue about canoeing!), but we’ll give it a shot! Having said that, as of January 2022 we’ve made a good start with one acquiring a treadmill which allows you to hike against people all over the place and he finished 3rd in an early race, another starting with good progress on the dietary front, another making progress on the swimming front in case of emergencies during canoeing (safety first, there’s a reasonable chance someone may “accidentally” push another out at some point), and the other just generally getting back into the cardio. Long may it all last!
Thank you so much and support in any form is appreciated!
