Story
To raise funds for The Royal British Legion, during their Centenary year, 15 DHL colleagues are taking part in a unique challenge from 30 January to 6 February 2022, set in the stunning and pristine wilderness of Northern Sweden, just 150km south of the Arctic Circle.
The eight day Arctic Survival Challenge will test their ability to adapt and survive in one of the harshest environments on the planet. They will embark on cross-country skiing, husky sledding and a 70km snowmobile safari, as well as learn life-saving skills like ice fishing and fire lighting.
During the ‘survival’ phase, they will be fuelled by freeze dried ration packs and need to work hard as a team and build some of their overnight accommodation. They will make one using surrounding trees and another by using spades and ice axes, tunnelling into snow and carefully carving a domed ceiling to make a snow hole. Inside, it will be a cosy, relatively warm 0 degrees Celsius and they’ll spend the night taking turns for ‘candle watch’, making sure that there is sufficient oxygen is present inside!
