Story
Eleven of us are taking on the Athens Marathon this year to raise money for Day One Trauma Support.
Day One is dear to all of us after being founded by Professor Peter Giannoudis in Leeds, England, in 2014. Today, the charity exists to support UK major trauma patients and their families, whenever and wherever they need it.
It provides practical, emotional and financial support to people who have suffered life-changing injuries because of accidents and incidents such as road crashes, falls from height, and stabbings.
Surviving major trauma is just the start. People’s lives are shattered and it is too much for them to piece it back together on their own. Day One is there to help in their darkest hour.
Day One goes beyond the scope of the NHS by providing emergency funding for things like accommodation, clothing or specialist equipment, legal and welfare benefits advice, counselling, and befriending through its dedicated team of Peer Support Volunteers.
We believe no one should be left to rebuild their life on their own.
Please give what you can and help us support this wonderful charity so it can continue making a difference to more people’s lives.
