Story
So I’ve decided I’m going to be the run for charity bloke. Just this once.
As most of you are aware last year on May 11th I collapsed on the Portway whilst out on a run.
I suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, and had it not of been for the lifesaving help and actions of passers-by and the medical team that arrived shortly afterwards, I wouldn’t be here today, in the physical and mental capacity I am now, if at all.
So I’ve decided I want to do something to give back and also mark the day a year on. So I’m giving myself the challenge of getting fit and ready to run a marathon on May 11th, precisely 3 months from today, and a year on from the accident. Running a marathon is something I had always thought about doing before my accident, and now I have had the all clear to get back to exercise I feel no is the time.
This will give me a goal and a bit of motivation to get back to my previous fitness, and I thought if I can raise some money for 2 worthwhile charities along the way, then why not!
My selected charities are Bristol City Centre Hospitals Appeal, for obvious reasons, without the great staff at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, I wouldn’t be here or able to be even attempting this.
My second charity is Bristol Mind. At a time where peoples mental health is being tested most, I feel a charity like this couldn’t be more important.
So yeah.... if you want to donate, links below.
