Raising money for Children's Hospice South West and Myeloma UK

Story

I'm running miles to raise smiles

UPDATE

I did it!

I ran a marathon and have been overwhelmed with the support I have received.

Thank you so much for all the donations that will make a difference.

I will leave the page open until the weekend if anyone else is able to contribute.

Many thanks xx

I am supporting the valuable work that the hospice does in Devon.

I am running in memory of my sister Carol who had Myeloma.

I have run several half marathons - this is my first marathon. I wanted to do something special to celebrate her life and enable me to gradually come to terms with the gap she has left in so many lives.

My dad had myeloma and one of my uncles is currently receiving treatment. I hope that future research will help develop positive outcomes.

Any amount that you can donate will make a difference to these wonderful causes.

I'm taking part in RUN Barnstaple for 2024. Please sponsor me to help me reach my £350 target.

🏃 £70 could help to fund one hour of care at our local children’s hospice

🏃 £150 could support a family through the early stages of their bereavement journey

🏃 £320 could pay for a day of support and care in the family home for a child and their family

🏃 £1,000 could pay for heat, light and power for 1 week at our local children’s hospice

This week has included a run in the park with the amazing people at Park Drive running club who are so supportive and inspirational. I’ve also completed a hilly run on the treadmill and 11 miles around Maldon and Heybridge - cheered on by some of the children I have been teaching. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far. It’s not going to be easy but I will succeed. X

Another successful week of training. It has been tiring, but the support and amazing contributions are spurring me on. I often think of Carol when I am running and really believe I am doing something positive in her memory.

UPDATE 2nd September

I have now completed the longest run in preparation for this challenge. I feel tired, but positive about how I will perform in a few weeks time.

Thank you so much to all those who have donated so far. If you would like to support these amazing charities any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you x
