Story
Thank you for visiting my page - here we go! ...
I used to sit and watch the London Marathon on the TV every year as a child. I vividly remember the music, costumes and all those thousands of bobbing heads snaking their way to the finish line. Now I'm living here, I love going along to watch and support friends, colleagues and strangers - and every year, I’ve thought, 'wouldn't it be amazing to do this' ...
So I applied - thinking that I would NEVER get picked - and then the email came through telling me that I was one of the lucky 5% to get a place. After a bit of a think, I decided to go for it - starting out as a total non-runner. I thought that if I could finish before the road sweepers come out then I'd be pleased!
I began training, working through the couch to 5K app - but had to stop for several months because of issues with my knees. This got sorted and I finished the couch to 5K this January and started proper marathon training straight after.
I've thought long and hard about which charity I would like to raise money for, and I just couldn't choose one. So I have decided on three major organisations that are close to my heart, and also two smaller charities that do such amazing work too. So my charities are:
The British Heart Foundation
Cancer Research
Mind
Mudchute City Farm
The Swan Sanctuary
It would be fabulous if you would like to sponsor me - I would love to be able to raise £250 for each one. You will find links to each of them on this page.
Thank you so much in anticipation of your support - apparently all we have to do is run a mile, 26 times ... and a bit!
