Story

We Are Coastal Odyssey: Ordinary people doing extraordinary things!

On the 9th June 2024, we will be on the start line of the world’s toughest rowing race, about to embark on a 2000-mile circumnavigation of Great Britain as part of the GB Row Challenge.

Setting off from Tower Bridge in London, we will race clockwise around Great Britain, rowing non-stop, unsupported, tackling the fast-changing tides and wind. If successful we will be the first mixed team of six to complete this challenge.

This will be a great test of team endurance, strength and character as well as an opportunity for us to contribute to essential research into the current state of our oceans as we collect data on microplastic and underwater noise pollution and ocean species biodiversity.

Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is a charity set up in 1990 by people sick of seeing the ocean they love polluted. We campaign to protect the ocean and all it makes possible, by taking action on the ground that triggers change from the top. We're calling for an end to sewage and plastic pollution.
