Story
In November of last year I was going through what was, thankfully, successful cancer treatment. It was one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced, both physically and mentally.
This year, now I’ve been lucky that things are sorted, I’d like to give something back.
Originally, I set out to raise money for Movember a leading charity changing the face of men’s physical and mental health.
Most people grow a moustache for Movember. It’s pretty likely that, were I to grow a moustache, it wouldn’t help my marriage or, as an ironic consequence, my mental health. Annette doesn’t like a ‘tache. If I’m being honest, neither do I.
So, instead of facial hair growth and Movember, I decided to do Coachember.
My aim was to coach 90 men, for 60 minutes each, in the days of November.
Then Donald Trump won the US election and I was pissed off and annoyed. Rather than just staying pissed off and annoyed, I felt I could and should do something to make my challenge more inclusive.
So, I’ve chosen a charity, Wellbeing of Women, which has a similar focus to Movember and am opening up the invitation of a coaching session for a contribution to charity to women too and extending the challenge through December as well.
Wellbeing of Women's ambition is to ensure that women’s lives are not limited by their gynaecological and reproductive health. They do this by investing in world class research, championing education, raising awareness and tackling the taboos that exist in women’s health, influencing guidelines, policy and practice and empowering women to advocate for themselves.
Their research is focussed across a woman’s life course and includes period problems, pregnancy and childbirth issues including preterm birth, gynaecological cancers, and menopause.
If you're female, male or non-binary and want to take part, all you need to do is book a session using the link below and make a donation of £3, £30 or, if you're feeling really generous, £300 to the charity on this page. You can choose either Movember or Wellbeing of Women or split your donation between the two.
This will mean that the charities make some money to carry on with their great work and you will get to have a coaching conversation, which could very well help your mental health as well as other people’s.
It’s a win-win!
If you don’t have time for a coaching conversation, or don’t want to have a coaching conversation, but you do want to donate to charity, then you can also do that.
Here’s the link to book a Coachember session:
Happy donating.
