Story
We did it! After 14 days, 45 stages and 1,665 miles shared across 68 riders and countless more helpers and supporters, we’ve completed CitySprint’s Tour of Britain!
The Tour, which began on Friday 8 September in Aberdeen and continued until we reached the finish line in Plymouth 14 days later, saw us visit all of CitySprint’s service centres across Great Britain on the way.
In that time, we’ve faced floods, storms, torrential rain, a very windy and scary bridge crossing, punctures, injuries and sore backsides! However, whatever the terrain and weather threw at us never stood a chance of denting our spirit or our commitment to raising crucial funds to help make wishes come true for critically ill children.
Over to Gary West, CitySprint’s CEO,
“I am incredibly proud of what we have collectively achieved over the two weeks of CitySprint’s Tour of Britain. The Tour has captured the imagination of colleagues all across the business, who have taken the challenge of raising as much money as possible for Make-A-Wish to their hearts. I am delighted that so many people have selflessly given up their time - and money – to be a part of this very worthwhile cause.
Inevitably with over 1600 miles of cycling, there were some logistical challenges along the way. However thanks to our riders, support vehicle drivers, supporters, the project team, service centre colleagues and the cargo bike team in London, we've overcome them all. The determination, commitment and engagement I have seen from all our colleagues has been truly fantastic to witness.
I’m also pleased to say that alongside the JustGiving donation page, we have received further donations from corporate sponsors which means that we have now achieved our target of raising £50,000. However, we know that every single pound counts and so we’re still encouraging anyone who’d like to donate to please do so here.”
