Story
On the 28th of August I was involved in a rock climbing accident where I suffered multiple fractures to my arms and right leg and for which I was lucky to have survived. If it was not for my quick thinking climbing partner and the actions of both the Edale Mountain rescue team and the Air Ambulance Team I probably wouldn't be here today.
Both the Edale Mountain rescue team and the Air Ambulance Service are entirely voluntary and rely on donations from the general public with no government funding whatsoever. Since I owe my life to these two services I have set up this fund raising page to show my gratitude to all the team members that were involved in my rescue.
Anyone who knows me well will know of my love of walking and mountaineering. It is my birthday today (01/12/2022) and I am planning to commit to a walk a year from now on my 60th birthday as a conclusion to my fund raising efforts. As I lie in my hospital bed it is difficult to predict the length and difficulty of this walk but I will keep updating this page with my progress and my aims and ambitions for this walk. I have a long way to go on this journey, currently I can only just stand with the help of the physiotherapy team but the aim is fitting and the challenge will help to galvanise my recovery.
I understand that you may receive similar requests of support for fund raising and that you probably have to pick and choose which to support. Both these voluntary services are essential for those who love the outdoors and for this reason I would urge you to decide to support them and dig deep with your generosity
Please donate via the two links within the 'Team Members'' section.
