(*please note: if you would like your donation to be split between our charities you will need to donate to each individually via the links below. Unfortunately JustGiving cannot split the total between the chosen charities. You are of course most welcome to make a single donation to the charity of your choice. The links are below and are all under the name “R Stanbury“ though they are links for both Chris and Rowan. Heartfelt thanks)
So, here we go, from a ’pinky promise’ at the wedding reception for my sister Jess and Chris’s son Nick to here, now, asking you to kindly support us running a rather long way, in loving memory of Katie Hampton, Chris’s daughter, who passed away from cancer in 2021 aged 32.
A little bit of wine was of course involved when Chris suggested that we should both do the Great West Run in May 2024. I wanted to get back into running after a break to have some babies and Chris, aged 67 years young, was in search of a running partner, preferably with some medical experience! His wife Ann was slightly concerned by the prospect, but cautiously agreed to him running again as long as there was a medical professional by his side at all times, ready as he says “to scoop him up if he falls by the wayside” My feeling is I will be needing to be scooped up, but together we will be sure to put in a solid effort. We sure wont be racing but we will run the distance and we will run with pride.
We are running to raise monies for Hospiscare, FORCE and The Baby Bank, the latter provides support to new mothers living in difficult circumstances. All charities support those during the most vulnerable and challenging of times. We will be running for these charities, for our community and for Katie.
If you feel able to support us in our efforts and would like to dontate to these worthy causes it would be greatly appreciated.
Please do support the charity of your choice, or if you would like to support all three, we kindly ask you split your donation between them.
With lots of love and thanks
Chris and Rowan xx
