Story
On Saturday 22nd June a team from Chine House Veterinary Hospital are going to tackle the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. 32 of us will be attempting the walk, a total of 38.6km in 12 hours including the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). We will be raising money for 2 charities StreetVet and The Matt Hampson Foundation (information about each charity below). When you donate you will have a choice of which charity to support we would like to support each charity equally but can not set this up automatically so will rely on our sponsors to choose who they donate to keep the donations as even as possible.
StreetVet
Victims of the UK homelessness epidemic often have scant support, except for, in a growing number of cases, the companionship of their pets.
Many have had their pets since before losing their homes, which makes their bond even more profound, such that their pet's well-being is a life-shaping priority.
Their volunteer vets and vet nurses provide accessible fundamental veterinary care. They vaccinate, microchip, treat for fleas and worms, prescribe pain relief, help fight infections, perform surgeries and sometimes just sit and listen.
The Matt Hampson Foundation
The Matt Hampson Foundation inspires and supports young people seriously injured through sport through its unique Get Busy Living centre in rural Leicestershire. The centre provides expert physiotherapy, specialist personal training, support, mentoring and advice to people suffering a life-changing injury.
The centre’s doors were opened in 2018 by Founder and ex-England and Leicester Tigers rugby player Matt Hampson, who himself experienced a life-changing injury in 2005.
