Story

Meet team Cheese Geek! Myself (Rachel Farquharson for those that dont know me) and the most amazing work pal Nicola Fitzgerald (I cant quite believe I’ve roped her in). We will be walking the 100km South Coast Challenge from Eastbourne to Arundel continuously on September 4th 2021!

We are raising money for the most amazing chairty The Brompton Fountain, thats holds such a special place in mine and my family‘s heart. I’m honoured to have Nicola join me in fundraising for a Charity that makes a huge difference daily.

For some of you that aren’t aware of the amazing things they do please read on, theres no better person than my sister Laura to tell you about our journey and support with The brompton Fountain.

Our little brave bear endured so much in his life already. At just 7months old Arthur underwent his 1st of many, open heart surgery. Sadly his heart couldn’t be fixed, his heart was very very poorly. He was left fighting so hard for his life, leaving him on a specialist life support machine called ECMO. A few days had passed and Arthur was ready to take on his biggest of surgeries. This time it was a success, but would mean Arthur would be on lifelong medication and have a permanent pacemaker due to having complete heart block and a mechanical valve. Arthur unfortunately suffered a significant stroke all whilst this was going on, which still to this day has affected his whole right side leaving him with cerebral palsy (which by the way he’s absolutely bossin) since those early surgeries and hospital admissions, arthurs undergone a further 2 open heart surgeries and 2 shiny new pacemaker insertions. He has a shiny new one in his chest now which was inserted a year ago, as well as in his abdomen. He calls those devices his muscles (oh he melts me) so so much has happened in Arthurs little life already and I think I could be here forever listing it all. Arthur is an incredibly loving little boy, with truly a heart made of the special platinum stuff. We honestly have his surgeons and the Brompton team to thank for. Without them Arthur wouldn’t be here today to tell the tale of all his scars and his continued battle we face every day of his blessed little life. The Brompton Fountain have been there through everything for our gorgeous boy. Not only Arthur, but our family too. And so many other family’s too. We sure aren’t the only ones. We are truly forever grateful for the continued care and support we have from them! We owe our lives to them… Thank you thank you thank you! Every donation is hugely and gratefully appreciated. It helps families just like ours in the hospital and out of the hospital! Absolute world class care from the team.

Lots of love Arthur and his family xx

Thank you all for your generosity! Wish us both luck, think we may need it! X
