Story
Hey everyone,
Thanks so much for visiting my JustGiving page and taking the time to read my story and hopefully support 2 fantastic charities.
I am running the London Marathon on 2nd October 2022 in memory of my Dad and will be raising money for 2 charities that mean so much to me. They are LIVES (Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Service) and Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.
So a little about my Dad, my hero. Dad was always a keen runner and actually I now realize from my training he was pretty good too. As a child I always wanted to do what Dad was doing, I used to try running with him and when I couldn't keep up I would hop on my bike and follow him round.
One of his life ambitions was to run the London Marathon. You had to be 18 to run the London Marathon so I convinced him to wait until I was old enough and then we could do it together.
Unfortunately, my dad passed away as a result of a car accident, I was 16 at the time and he was 48. My Dad was called Robert Glass, known as Bob to most, he was the Mayor of Market Deeping at the time of his accident.
It has always been on my mind that I inadvertently prevented him from fulfilling his dream of running the London Marathon by asking him to wait for me. So after many years of entering the ballot and building up the courage or stupidity :-) to think I can do it, I finally have my place aged 35 now and I am going to do it for Dad so in some way he has done the course. He was and still is my hero and it means the world to me to complete this for him.
So why LIVES and Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.
When Dad had his accident I found out that the Lives First Responders were on the scene first to try and save him, I am forever grateful for their efforts and want to give back to such a vital, local charity. Find out more about LIVES here: https://www.lives.org.uk/
As part of the role of being Mayor of Market Deeping, Dad had a nominated charity that all fundraising and donations would go to for that year. He choose Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance and I am keen to follow his wishes to support another fantastic charity that meant a lot to him. Please click on one of the team members (both me) to donate to the charity of your choice, anything you can contribute will make a difference to them both.
Thank you so much for reading this and for the support, check out some of the photos below that I cherish and to my Dad, I hope you can somehow follow me on the day and I do you proud.
