Story
As close and old friends of Jack Buchanan we decided last year to honour his too short a life by organising an annual charity Rugby Match here at Newbury where Jack played from the age of 5. Jack made many friends playing rugby for School, Club, County and London Irish and is not forgotten. So we are supporting charities that help those bereaved by suicide. The most recent figures show that in 2023 there were a reported 7468 suicides in the UK. 80% of which falling to Men between the ages of 18-35
Losing a loved one to suicide is an incredibly painful, leaving families and friends with overwhelming grief, unanswered questions, and a deep sense of loss. Charities that support those bereaved by suicide provide vital assistance, offering compassionate guidance and counselling. These organisations help individuals navigate the complexities of grief, breaking the silence and stigma that often surround suicide. By supporting such charities, we ensure that no one has to face this journey alone, empowering those affected to find healing and hope for the future. Every donation, volunteer effort, and act of advocacy makes a difference in helping bereaved individuals rebuild their lives with the support they need.
At Suicide&Co, our aim is to start a conversation about suicide-related grief. We recognise that an end like this, should be the start of many new conversations.
