Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Justgiving Team page, raising money in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and The Sick Children's Trust.
Nearly 30 years ago, in October 1993, our eldest child, Charlie, suffered massive injuries at birth, including a ruptured liver. He wasn't expected to survive. He was transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, and due to the skill of the amazing surgeons there and the care and dedication of all the wonderful nurses and doctors in NICU, his life was saved.
During that terrible time at GOSH, we were offered a place to stay by a charity called The Sick Children's Trust. The house was just a few minutes from Great Ormond Street, with a direct telephone line to the ward, It was a 'home from home', a haven for us at that dark time. It meant that we could be at Charlie's side at any time, 24 hours a day.
This year, in September, Charlie gets married to Jodie, and in October, he turns 30. We want to celebrate these two special events by raising as much money as possible in aid of the two charities that are so personal to us, Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and The Sick Children's Trust.
In September, we're setting off on our Charity Canal Challenge, walking from Manchester, where we live, to London, a journey of more than 200 miles, taking us more than two and a half weeks. We're planning to arrive at Guilford Street House and Great Ormond Street Hospital on Charlie's 30th birthday.
More details of our story, and information on the charities can be found on the individual charity fundraising pages (see below)
This team page allows donation to either or both of the two charities. Please choose to donate by clicking on a team member below. You will be transferred to the charity fundraising page for the individual charity, either GOSH or the Sick Children's Trust. Ideally we would love that the two charities have broadly equal donation in total.
Thank you so much for your donation
