Story
Please join us in the fight against cancer. This is our journey to the London Marathon 2025 - it started in 2015!
Ceri’s story
In 2015, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma (stage 4). To say I was devastated was an understatement. I was terrified that I would not be there to see my son, Reuben, grow up; he was just six at the time. With my boy in mind, I knew I had a fight on my hands, and I wasn’t giving up! The journey through treatment was arduous, filled with moments of fear and uncertainty. Thankfully, I managed to get into remission, which I attribute to the treatment I received from the NHS, the help I received from charities, and the unwavering support I got from my friends and family. Next April 2025, will be the ten-year anniversary; I would like to mark this occasion and run the London Marathon in order to raise money for charity.
Rhian’s story
I have been a nurse since 2010 and working on a children’s oncology ward in the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) I know all too well the devastation cancer can cause. What I witnessed families go through was utterly heartbreaking; it made me even more determined to provide all the help and support I could. I was humbled by the strength and courage I witnessed every day; it was incredibly fulfilling. The journey became personal when my friend, Ceri, was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2015. Witnessing her battling this cruel disease was a heart-wrenching experience that impacted me enormously. We have been friends since we were 5, and I was utterly devasted at the thought of losing her. Thankfully, she made a full recovery, and I will be forever grateful to the NHS and the charities that helped her. Moreover, I still work for the NHS, and I am still wholly committed to those in need.
The mission…
We have dreamed of running The London Marathon, and 2025 is the year we are going to do it! Our running career began in 2015 because we wanted to take care of both our physical and mental health– running became our therapy. We have decided to raise money for Cancer Research and Tenovus Cancer Care as they are both charities close to our heart. Tenovus Cancer Care provides help, hope and a voice to those effected by cancer. Cancer Research is dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We are determined to raise funds and participate in this iconic event, knowing that every step we take and every pound we raise can make a significant impact. Cancer impacts countless lives, not only in the physical toll it takes but also in the emotional and mental challenges it brings. Your sponsorship means the world to us, and with your help, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. Please consider supporting us as we run not just for ourselves, but for everyone touched by this cruel disease.
Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us support the vital work of these incredible charities. Together, we can make a change.
When donating, please be mindful we are raising money for two charities, we would like to keep the donations equal. Thank you
