As you will know the people of Turkey and Syria were recently struck by a terrible earthquake. This affected 18 million people, many in urgent need for shelter, food and medical aid.

DEC charities are currently receiving donations to give people access to healthcare, shelter for those who have lost their homes, heating in safe spaces, blankets, warm clothes, ensuring people have food and clean water.

With the month of Ramadhan approaching, I thought we could challenge ourselves by doing a sponsored fast on the 23rd March raising money for the people of Turkey and Syria.

Muslims normally fast between the hours of sunrise to sunset with no food or water between! All the while we strive to be more patient and kinder to our fellow human beings. It would be tough asking everyone to do this so I propose a fast from breakfast but you can have liquids until 6:20pm where we will break our fast together.
