Story
Thank you for checking out my Just Giving page! On 16th May I will be walking all 630 miles of the South West Coast Path to raise money for two worthwhile charities.
My two chosen charities, which I plan to split donations evenly between, are the Farming Community Network (FCN) and Action Against Hunger. FCN offers pastoral and practical support to help farming families through hard times. Action Against Hunger fights hunger and malnutrition across 46 countries globally.
The South West Coast Path...
Starting in Minehead the SWCP follows cliffs and coves, previously trodden by coastguards on the lookout for smugglers, all the way through four counties to South Haven Point, which is close to where I live. Having explored my local section of the path, I thought it was time to see the rest!
I plan to complete the path in roughly 45 days, camping as much as possible and documenting my journey on Isle Walk Purbeck's blog (click here to read).I’m not really an experienced long-distance walker but think the SWCP is a great place to become one and essentially I’m just walking home - the very long way!
The Farming Community Network...
FCN is an organisation and charity run by volunteers to support those in the farming community during difficult times. Farming can be a volatile industry, subject to changes such as the weather or fluctuating market prices, which are usually beyond farmers’ control. It can also be a lonely and isolating occupation, sometimes with little to no social interaction. FCN volunteers provide free advice and practical support to those in need for a variety of different issues such as poor mental wellbeing, financial difficulties and family disputes. Coming from a farming family myself, I see the value of FCN and hope to raise money so they can support more people in the industry.

Action Against Hunger...
Action Against Hunger is an international charity working to end hunger and malnutrition across 46 countries including Somalia, Yemen, Bangladesh and recently, Ukraine. They provide support in areas faced with natural disasters and conflict, tackling the causes of hunger such as malnutrition, gender inequality, mental health and the climate crisis. Action Against Hunger is trying to mediate the effects seen by rising world hunger and as I plan to return to university this autumn for my masters in Food Security, I would like to raise some money to support them in their work.
