Story
As kids, my sisters and I wanted for nothing, we were and indeed still are, a close family who are always there for each other, the back bone of this strong family dynamic was our Dad, Leslie.
He would go to work every day, rain hail or shine to ensure we were always provided for, he gave us love, education and taught us respect and the meaning of family values, always being there for each other.
Dementia has taken from him many many things, he is but a fraction of the man he was, but, despite the impact this crippling condition has, he will always have us, he will always be our awesome Dad.
Now, its our turn to give back to him, the love, support and guidance he gave us as kids and indeed as adults, and while this walk does not come close to ease his struggles, we hope that what comes from it can help find a cure for this terrible condition.
We walk to raise funds for Alzheimer's, for our Dad and for all the other suffers of this and similar conditions. We also walk for for the carers, who give so much to help those they love, who sacrifice a piece of themselves everyday to witness the transformation of a person they once new into a shadow of themselves, often, someone else.
