Story
We (Tashi, Alan, Amy and Lucy) are taking on the YMCA DownsLink Group challenge on Saturday 15th July 2023. We will be walking 17.5 miles from Horsham to Shoreham along the DownsLink pathway to help the work of YMCA in supporting young people who are experiencing homelessness to get back on their feet and live independently.
Lucy says “ I am so excited to be doing this challenge with some amazing young people who I’ve been lucky enough to get to know in my role as a chaplain. I am so impressed by their resilience and I just hope I can keep up with them and not let the side down! I am glad to be walking too with my lovely colleague Amy who does so much to support young people who live in our accommodation to look into courses and jobs and find what they want to do. We’d all really appreciate any support you could give!”
Amy says “I am doing this challenge to raise awareness of the wonderful work we do in supporting people who are at risk of homelessness and to support the residents taking part. Also to get my step count up for the day!”
Tashi says “I am doing this because YMCA has changed my life and what they do is amazing, it’s my way of giving back and to go on a nice walk”
Alan says “I am doing the Downslink challenge for the challenge and to help raise money for YMCA”
YMCA DownsLink Group prevent youth homelessness through accommodation, support and advice. Every night they provide a safe home to over 750 young people in our community. Each and every one has faced serious challenges in their lives. No young person chooses to be homeless.
Your support will help YMCA DLG to end youth homelessness by helping them ensure all young people living with or being supported by them move on positively and independently, forever.
