Story
My wonderful friend Chris of Bedford Rowing Club, died of MND in 2020. Chris was most known for her swimming and our rowing club has a boat, G-Fish, named after her. Her granddaughters had always called her Granny-Fish.
I have chosen a Charity to support that is targeted at research into MND and Parkinson's Disease. Chris knew people who had endured Parkinson's Disease and would most certainly have been glad to fund research into improving the management of it.
Chris came to rowing after along career in swimming as coach and competitor. Her granddaughter called her 'Granny Fish." Hence the boat G-Fish in Bedford Rowing Club boathouse.
Chris was the Recs connection to the Bedford Rowing Club. She was kind, determined, competitive and always looking for ways to connect us with the younger squads which were focussed on competition and rarely saw us because we used the boats on a Friday whilst younger people were working. So she encourage us to use the bar and to help at events. The day of the Denver - Ely marathon was always special to her because the competitive squads took part. And we did as well, to complete a course that presented us with a challenge, and required us to train for that challenge in advance.
