23 members of staff from Beaudesert Park School are taking on the challenge of completing the Bristol Half Marathon on Sunday 14th May. A mixed group of abilities, we are coming together to complete the 13.1 mile course in support of the charity OSCAR International and their UK Tour in October 2023.

The OSCAR UK Girls & Boys Tour 2023 provides a once in a lifetime opportunity for children living in the most marginalised communities in India. The two-week tour creates a platform for youth from both India and the UK to be part of a global community, to learn from and befriend their peers irrespective of nationality, religion, gender, caste or class. Pupils from the UK host schools engage with disadvantaged OSCAR kids and collaborate in educational and cultural workshops, football training and share in lifes challenges and successes.

In October 2023 OSCAR will be sending girls and boys together, reinforcing our #genderequality ethos. In poor communities in India the Covid pandemic disproportionately affected girls and we're confident the opportunity the tour provides will inspire more girls to engage with OSCAR. The tour will motivate girls to stay in education and say NO to an early marriage and youth pregnancy. The 18 OSCAR tourists will return to their communities as role models,
