Story

Hi, I’m Tuesday and thats my mum Amy! On Sunday 20th March we are undertaking the task of walking 15 miles to raise money for Moorfields eye charity…and here’s why….

In 2012 whilst in my final year at Uni training to be a nurse, I went for a standard eye test. During the appointment they photographed the back of my eye and noticed some “abnormalities” so i was referred to Moorfields hospital for further investigation. Get your eyes tested folks, its very important!!

Skip forward to 2016 And I’m now working as a scrub nurse, and also have my first little munchkin. At my routine appointment i finally got my formal diagnosis, Stargardt’s Disease. Never heard of it?! No, me either… Unfortunately for me, my eyesight worsened much faster than anyone expected and in 2019 i became Legally Partially Blind.

So there i was, 30, married, with a 3 year old and a 1 year old doing a job i abdolutely loved but knew i was struggling with. I thought my new legal status was going to mean i got financial help and validation, but unfortunately all i ended up with was crippling anxiety and depression! (How’s that for bad luck!)

In November 2020, i was forced to give up nursing, and i was devastated! (In truth, i still am…). I was grieving for the life i thought i was going to have, for the things i thoyght i was gojng to achieve, for the job i loved. No matter how hard i tried, i was on a downward spiral that i couldnt get out of….and always there on the end of the phone listening to me sob and telling me its okay was my mum. I cant speak for her, but now being a mama myself, i know this all must be just as hard for her! 💜

So now im taking back control as best i can In October 2021 i opened my own little business making handcarfted decor - Blind Faith Creations - shameless and very unsubtle plug! Hence the team name…

My eyesight wont ever be cured, but Im hoping the money we raise can help those who can, so that other people dont have to go through what i am going through So that other parents dont have to hear their child crying on the phone like mine have…

So please give what you can, show your support for us both and help others out along the way Dont forget to check out my little business, and dont gorget to pray for our poor little feet who didnt ask for any of this!! 🤣
