Miles for Opportunity 2020 · 1 August 2020 to 31 August 2020 ·

This August, we challenge you to keep the lock-down exercise going and walk, run or cycle (or dog-walk, swim, roller-blade...) as many miles as you can. Help us raise the vital funds we need to continue helping some of the world's poorest people.

Story

We are six children and six adults from the Oxfordshire village of Bladon. We are committed to racking up an incredible (for us anyway!) 1,000 miles travelled across the month of August. We will get on our bikes, we will run, we will swim, we will walk, we will roller skate in order to achieve our goal. It will be tough. Will you support us?

We are doing this to support Oxford-based charity Opportunity International. This is the story of the event:

Every day in Africa men, women and children travel thousands of miles to escape war, poverty and oppression. They leave their homes and everything they know, in search of the opportunities they need to create a better life for themselves and their families.

We are taking part in this challenge to ensure that these brave and ambitious people are provided with the life-changing opportunities they need to begin rebuilding their lives. Right now, in the midst of the global pandemic, the support provided by Opportunity International UK is more vital than ever.

Our target of £1000 would enable 40 refugees and their families to begin rebuilding their lives. With access to loans, training and support they will be given the opportunity they need to work towards a better future.
