Our target amount is £50,000 over a span of 4 years! And every donation counts towards making a difference in a child’s life. Your contribution will help to fund vital research that will lead to new and improved treatments. Let’s come together to make a lasting impact on these children’s lives.

In our first year of Fundraising we managed to raise £25,000 to support children with Hirschsprung’s Disease. This enabled more research in the hopes of more treatment options for children, It funded new laboratory research to grow nerve cells to compare to the nerve cells of children suffering with the disease to have clear comparisons. It also enabled Alder Hey to receive funding from the Biomedical Research council, The Royal College of Surgeons and lastly, Bowel Research UK. It also allowed Alder Hey to create a patient and parents group which helped to shape their research and truly address the real life challenges faced with the disease. This way research can be made as impactful and meaningful as possible.

We now have another target to raise £25,000 in support of Tenfold Errors in Medication Research, this is a research project in collaboration with the British Paediatric Surveillance Unit, analysing medication errors in under and overdosing patients. Also the patterns that may lead to these errors. Medication Administrating errors are common with children and young adults three times more likely to be seriously harmed in comparison to adults.

The research will take place over a 25 month period and will allow any interventions to be identified and developed to limit these errors on a National basis, the research will also look into any particular at risk reasons for these errors such as sex, age and ethnicity. This will help to identify more specific interventions necessary.

We believe that every child deserves a chance at a healthy life, this is why we are committed to funding research that will change their lives and improve their quality of life.

As a team we are dedicated to making a difference and have pledged to deliver a series of fundraising efforts, events, and challenges. From a challenging 10-day trek to China, and a 10k run, to a charity bake sale and a football and Golf tournament, we are determined to reach our target amount.
