Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
At Christmas, Charlotte and I decided that we wanted to do a walk and raise money for charity. So we have chosen to complete different challenges as part of the Jurassic Ultra Coast Challenge in May. I will be walking 100km and Charlotte will be joining me for the final stage.
If was hard to choose which charities we wanted to support, so we have chosen three:
- MIND UK. I have seen and experienced how individual's mental health has been affected following COVID, cost of living crisis and general day to day life. When we're completing the Challenge it will be the end of Mental Health Awareness Week. It seems apt the the theme this year is Movement: Moving more for our mental health. Being active is important for out mental health but so many struggle, so whether its a walk with a friend/dog or dancing to your favourite song - it all counts.
- Rare Disease UK. 1 in 17 people will be affected by a rare condition at some point in their lives. The average patient receives THREE misdiagnoses, consults with FIVE doctors and waits FOUR years before receiving a diagnosis.
For us (Charlotte) it was SIX doctors and THREE years to receive a diagnosis. So I'm walking 100KM and Charlotte will be joining me for the final stage.
- Anthony Nolan. This is Charlotte's charity of choice. We have both experienced people who need stem cell transplant and chose to be part of the Marrow Society at University, who recruits people to join the stem cell register.
