Project 500 is a movement to raise £500,000 for Mind Over Mountains, to significantly grow our charity so we can support more people with their mental health across the UK, through therapeutic outdoor experiences.

Story

Mind Over Mountains is an ambitious and innovative mental health charity that enables people to thrive through therapeutic outdoor experiences. We enable people to restore and sustain their mental health and wellbeing through a highly integrated practice that brings together walking in nature, mindfulness, and professional coaching and counselling. With your help we can move mountains!

We are 8 women, 4 of us over 60 years old and 4 over 50, who love to mountain bike. Last July we met two guys at the top of Leith Hill who were walking to raise money for Mind Over Mountains. We were intrigued and had a look at the website. As so many of us are affected in some form or other by a mental health struggle, we decided to challenge ourselves, at the same time as raising funds. We will be cycling about 33 miles, a rough total of 3,056 ft in one day as we climb Ranmore, Holmbury, Leith Hill and finally Box Hill in Surrey. Half of the team will be relying on traditional pedal power and the other half using electric bikes. We don’t believe electric is cheating and see it as a means of ensuring we can continue to get outside and do the cycling we enjoy.
