Story
Ben’s story:
I am running the London marathon this year to raise money for the Stroke Association as part of a 12 month campaign to raise £5000 that started last August after I had a stroke on the 20th May 2024.
100,000 people in the UK experience a stroke each year with around 38,000 deaths (the fourth leading cause of death in the UK), when a stroke occurs it cuts off the blood supply to the brain, killing brain cells and causing damage in the form of both physical and cognitive disability.
I was one of the lucky ones as my physical recovery was relatively straightforward and I was able to start exercising again not long afterwards, but noticing the people around me in the hospital ward made me want to do something to help the thousands of people each year who require support to recover.
I would be grateful for any support you are prepared to give, whether that’s in the form of a donation, a share of my fundraising efforts or a word of encouragement – thank you!
Matt's story:
On April 27th, 2025, I’ll be taking on the London Marathon, one of the most iconic races in the world. But this isn’t just about the miles - this one is deeply personal.
In 2011, I lost my dad to lymphoma, a cruel disease that changes lives in an instant. Since then, I’ve wanted to do something truly meaningful in his memory, and now I have the chance to run for Lymphoma Action, a charity dedicated to supporting those affected and funding vital research.
Their mission is to make sure no one faces lymphoma alone.
Every step I take will be for him and for everyone facing this disease.
Please support me and this incredible cause, whether it’s a donation, a share, or just cheering me on!’
