Story
Beatson Cancer Charity has provided generous support for the Beatson Radiotherapy Research Group over the past four years. In recognition of this support we are getting together to raise money to help support the Charity through these difficult times. Our team members will be joining hundreds of other supporters of the Charity in the annual 'Off The Beatson Track' event, walking 10 km either together or apart.
Radiotherapy is used to treat more than half of patients with cancer, and plays a key role in nearly half of curative treatments. Recent advances in technology have made radiotherapy much more accurate than before, so we can now provide more effective treatments with fewer side effects for a wider range of cancer patients.
The Beatson Radiotherapy Research Group develops and uses new radiotherapy technologies and combines them with new molecular targeted drugs to improve outcomes for patients with cancers that are normally very difficult to treat. With the support for Beatson Cancer Charity, our team has grown over the past few years and is now recognised as one of the UK's leading radiotherapy research teams.
Your support will help us continue to grow and enable us to create and test new and more effective treatments for cancer patients in the West of Scotland and beyond.
