Story

We are taking part in the 10km Banchory Beast Race this year to Remember Boe. Boe was a much loved friend and so deeply missed. We are running to fundraise for the Ronald McDonald House, Glasgow which supported Boe’s family under the most difficult circumstances.

Boe was a super fan of horses and loved talking about them as much as riding, jumping and caring for them. Boe rode at Halymyres stables and made many friends. She was always so supportive of the other riders. She encouraged and sympathised and had fun even when it didn’t quite go to plan! Boe loaned a pony called Scooby who had his quirks but he had a special place in her heart.

Boe will forever be in our thoughts with the horses.

Boe became unwell in October last year, and her health deteriorated very quickly. It turned out that she had a rare condition called pulmonary hypertension, and devastatingly, she lost her brave fight for life in November, age 12.

All money raised will go to Ronald McDonald House, Glasgow, who looked after Boe’s family by providing homely accommodation, meaning they could stay close to Boe while she was in hospital.

Your donations will make a huge impact as it costs the charity £80 a day to provide high quality accommodation a few minutes walk from the hospital for families whose children are seriously ill. £20 can help buy duvets and bedding and £10 can facilitate a direct phone link from their room to their child’s ward.

Thank you from all the team.

Ronald McDonald House Glasgow is a small independent Scottish charity (SC023199) that provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families with seriously ill children in hospital. The House costs in the region of £940,000 per year to run, helping c.500 families each year from across Scotland and further afield. The house has all the amenities you would find at home, enabling families to rest and recuperate in a safe haven, very close to their child in hospital.
