Story
On the 1st September 2024 our best friend, Natasha ‘Tash’ Read (was Gir) lost her short 10 month battle with stage 4 bile duct and liver cancer, leaving behind her two beautiful children, Alex and baby Elliott and her childhood sweetheart husband, Darren. She was just 36 years old. Tash had a bucket list and visiting the giants causeway was on the list that she never got time to fulfill. Our friendship group was in the planning stages of a trip to the causeway, before she suddenly passed.
Her 37th birthday would be on the 19th June, so when we saw that Macmillan had a hike for people living with cancer just 2 days after her birthday and at this amazing bucket list location- we knew we had to sign up and fund raise in her honour.
On our half-marathon team is me (Becky Meredith-Shaw), my husband and Tashas friend- John Meredith and Tash and I’s fellow school friends Looke Blackstaffe and Jonny Woods.
We have challenged ourselves to take on the Giant's Causeway Mighty Hike to help raise money for people living with cancer.
We would be be so grateful if you could help us reach our £250 pledge, which can pay for Macmillan Nurse for one day. This could provide people living with cancer and their families essential medical, practical and emotional support.
There are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today. It's Macmillan's goal to be there for everyone from the moment of diagnosis, but they can't do this without donations from people like you.
Thank you and wish us luck!
