Story
Putney Bridge to Henley. 100k. 62.5 miles. Non-stop. In 24 hours. Bay Tree, Bearded, Beer Monsters, time for us to get out our walking boots. What could possibly go wrong?
Due to Mind being extremely close to both of our hearts, we have decided to take this challenge on together for both, different and similar reasons.

I am walking the Thames path challenge for Mind because I think the charity is amazing. It helps so many people with mental health problems. I have lost and know of several people who had mental health problems that didn’t reach out for help. Mind is there for everyone no matter how big or small your problems. Our challenge is massive but a small donation from family and friends will go a long way to help more people.

In 2019, after many years of using various methods to battle my brain, I had a mental breakdown. This led to seeking avenues of help. My doctor was my first place to call and she was amazing. After agreeing the daunting task of changing happy pills, my doctor set me up for a course of therapy treatment, but, there was a three month wait. To bridge the gap, I was directed to Mind. Georgie was exactly what I needed. An approachable, friendly, unjudgemental, lovely lady who listened to me and helped me to begin to change the way I went about living with my brain. The perfect person to get me on to the next step. After a month of meetings with Georgie, I got the news that my doctor was retiring. This knocked me for six. She had been there for me a long time. I told Georgie about it in our next Mind meeting. Georgie then told me that funding had run out and that she wouldn't be at Mably Health Centre any more. She looked really sad and I was left in a limbo like no other. I felt a numbness like I had never felt before. The progress that I had made in a month talking with Mind had been more than I had made in years. I went down hill and my poor family had to witness it. But, there was a light and it came a few days later. Georgie called me and told me that more funding had come in for Mind to continue at Mably Health Centre. The relief was a feeling I will never forget. I was able to get the support I needed to be a husband and father again until I was able to get the therapy I needed long term. There are people out there that I will never meet that raised that money for me to get the help I needed. Now it's my turn to do it for someone else.
