Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
A child diagnosed with cancer is offered lots of support during their treatment journey, and quite rightly so. It’s a very traumatic time and anything that can lift the spirits of that child goes a long way.
Through experience and reflection, Siblings United have identified a need to help the siblings of seriously ill children as there is currently no provision made for them. They can often feel isolated and confused with the dramatic change to their normal family lifestyle. This can lead to all sorts of potential problems for that sibling.
We like to offer that child gifts or experiences similar to those available to the diagnosed child. It could be a small gift of their choice, a day out at the cinema or a meal at their favourite restaurant. This helps to maintain the sibling bond and family dynamics. It’s not much but the feedback we’ve had has been very positive in the effects it has had.
We hope you can help us, thank you.
