Story
As the holiday season grows nearer AWC will aim to support both our partner charities, Ronald McDonald House Evelina and The Soup Kitchen, this year.
We hope to raise £2,000 total to directly support the amazing work of both organizations. We hope members can give what they can - we understand that this year may be more difficult with increased costs across households.
Ronald McDonald House Evelina supports families in unimaginable situations caring for a child in hospital. At Ronald McDonald House Evelina, they ease some of the burden by providing free ‘home away from home’ accommodation right across from Evelina London Children’s Hospital. AWC members have cooked hundreds of meals for families over the years - and while in-person volunteering is still on hold we hope to support them in other ways. In 2022 they are particularly worried about the cost of energy to keep the houses running and warm this winter. They operate on a tight budget and hope that giving will help ease those worries this season.
The Soup Kitchen is a resource for the homeless, elderly, lonely and vulnerable in London. They provide free meals, clothing, toiletries and a sense of belonging to nearly 150 of our friends each day. AWC women have been volunteering to cook meals for many years - if you’re interested in volunteering please contact communityoutreach@awclondon.org. The cost of food has increased and the amount of those in need has also increased. The Soup Kitchen never turns anyone away and they hope generous donations will keep them running at full capacity this winter.
