This year marks the 80th Anniversary of RAF Regiment. Since its formation in 1942, the RAF Regiment has played a vital role in major operations across the world, including WWII, Northern Ireland, the Falkland Islands and Afghanistan. 2623 are holding this charity event is to raise money for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF) in conjunction with marking the centenary of the formation of The RAF Armoured Car Companies (ACC), in 1921, and the 80th Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force Regiment on 01 Feb 1942.
To celebrate 80 years of dedicated service, 2623 squadron personnel are undertaking an two events to raise funds for 2 charities who have supported them and their fellow RAF Family members over the past 80 years and more.
The first will consist of a team of 4 individuals from 2623 Squadron who will aim to complete a total of 80,000 Press-Ups in approximately 16 weeks. This event will require a total of 20,000 Press -Ups to be completed by each of the team members to reach the goal of 80,000.
The second will take place on a single day, between the members of 2623 Sqn and we will achieve a total of 3,536 press ups in 1 day to mark the selected distance of 3,535.6 miles from Heliopolis (Egypt) to RAF Honington (UK).
Working alongside each other, the Centurion Fund support and maintain the history, traditions and ethos of RAF Regiment members, many of which the RAF Benevolent Fund have supported in their hour of need. They could not continue to commemorate the RAF Regiment and support members of the RAF Family like them today, without your support.
