Story
A team from Avon Needs Trees (ANT) are heading out into Somerset to take on the challenge of walking Somerset’s Three Peaks this October to raise money for the charity.
The 17-mile route takes in the three highest peaks near the Great Avon Wood site - Maes Knoll, Blackberry Hill and Knowle Hill. The team are hoping to raise funds to create new permanent woodlands in the Bristol-Avon river catchment area tackling the climate and nature crises.
ANT is planting and caring for tens of thousands of trees in the local area, powered by incredible volunteers, but we rely on funds to buy saplings, care for the trees we’ve planted and look after these amazing places.
Judith Gordon, Operations Manager, says, “Whilst working at the charity we’re so focused on our sites that it is good to get out and appreciate the wider landscape, and to connect with team members that we don’t see very often. This circular route promises panoramic views of the Chew Valley, three hilltops, and time together as we push ourselves to walk this challenging distance. We’d very much appreciate your support as we prepare to walk through the unpredictable weather and conditions underfoot and raise money to support nature locally!”
