We provide survival basics and support to disadvantaged people in Zimbabwe

Story

We would like to raise £6000 to help provide a better living environment for orphans in a children’s home in Chnihoyi, Zimbabwe. At present, there are over 50 children living in 2 basic dormitories and conditions are overcrowded, sparse and difficult. Currently, hot water is seldom available and the kitchen which feeds all 50 children is outdoors, using firewood for heating.

Funds have already been raised to build a smaller home for 10 of the youngest children, which will provide them with a loving, holistic environment rather than an institutionalised dormitory. The house has been built but for the next phase of the project, it needs finishing and furnishings such as electrics, bedding, bathroom and kitchen equipment. One of the ‘luxuries’ we would like to raise funds for is an industrial gas stove that can be used without electricity or firewood.

The children in this home come from nightmarish backgrounds of abuse, the death of both parents, trauma and violence. The home offers them a safe place where they are taken care of by a local pastor, his wife and a committed volunteer team.

The money we raise will go towards items such as

Basic electrics

Bathroom and toilets

Heavy duty gas stove

Paint

Beds and bedding
