Story
Andy has had such an incredible impact on so many people throughout his life. In his 34 years Andy has lived with kindness, intent and deeply connected to those who crossed his path. It is impossible to sum up Andy's life in words, and what we have felt comforted by is every message and memory from anyone who had the privilege of getting to know Andy.
Myself (Andy's wife, Kelsey) and Andy's family would be grateful if donations would go to any or a combination of the four causes we have chosen which we believe have been and would be important for Andy. We hope you understand we will be having family flowers only.
This page brings together the three online fundraising pages that have been set up in Andy's memory. Please scroll down and click on the individual page links, listed below and under 'Team members', to learn more about each cause and Andy's connection to it.
The four causes we have chosen are to symbolise parts of Andy's journey:
- Choose Love: https://www.justgiving.com/page/andy-shirley-chooselove. He was constantly striving to know more about current affairs, to be educated in World issues. Andy had so much compassion for those in less fortunate positions.
- Greyhound Rescue Wales: https://www.justgiving.com/page/andy-shirley-greyhoundrescuewales. Andy had a beautiful connection to animals and this became even more evident when he became Vegan a few years ago (and loved to talk about why).
- Switch the Play Foundation: https://www.justgiving.com/page/andy-shirley-switchtheplay. Andy has always had a passion and an exceptional talent in a variety of sport. Anyone who got the privilege to watch Andy snowboard, play golf or wicket keep will know the pure connection he had to them.
- Bulgarian Dog Rescue: There isn't a page for this cause, as we'll be collecting cash donations on the day of Andy's celebration of life. Our friends Lou and Sylw, who Andy and I met travelling and volunteering in South East Asia in 2013, are currently rescuing dogs from the street in Bulgaria. You can find out more about it on their Instagram page, https://www.instagram.com/louandsylw.
Even though Andy would hate me saying this, but by Andy being entirely Andy throughout his life he has made a positive difference to this World and this will continue through the ripple effect, we hope we can keep this going through these fundraisers.
Thank you for your kind donations and messages and please add any memories with Andy so we can look through and find moments of comfort, laughter and love. xxx
