When Emily was born, she had a congenital condition that caused her to have hydrocephalus. Birmingham Children’s Hospital fitted her with a shunt to drain excess fluid from her brain, and allowed her to live a normal life. A few years later, she developed meningitis and endocarditis - both life threatening conditions, but BCH saved her again. When she grew up, she met me, we liked each other a lot, and we decided to be together forever. We both have a lot to thank BCH for as a result.
