Story
In just a few weeks’ time, on Sunday 2nd October, I will be running my tenth London Marathon!
This year, I am raising money for Parkinson’s UK and Calon Heart, both of which are committed to using funds locally.
I am running in support of a close colleague currently managing the challenges of life with Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s is one of the fastest growing neurological conditions in the world, yet not enough people understand what it is like to live with the disease. Parkinson’s UK is working to raise more awareness of the issue and support those with it.
Calon Heart provide life-saving equipment across communities. They have installed a number of defibrillators locally that have saved lives. Sadly, not everyone suffering a heart attack has had access to the latest technology and I know a lot of people who would have been saved, if a defibrillator was available close by.
I appreciate that many calls are made in favour of worthwhile causes, and I hope you are able to extend your generosity to help these charities.
Knowing that your donations depend on me completing the 26.2-mile course has a major influence on my motivation and morale along the highs and lows of the route! I appreciate your support!
Over the last nine London Marathons, I have raised over £70,000 for local causes. Hitting a milestone, with this being my tenth, I am not sure how much longer my legs can take!
