Raising money for FARMS FOR CITY CHILDREN and Midlands Air Ambulance Charity

Story

There are 2 links below in Al’s name - 1 for Midlands Air Ambulance and 1 for Farms for City Children. Just Giving doesnt allow you to do a combined ‘pot’. You just need to click on Alecs name below under ‘Team Members’ and it will say at the top of the page which charity you have clicked on.

Alec was a beloved Son, Brother, Partner, Uncle and Brother in Law. He was tragically and suddenly taken from us in May. We would wish to honour his memory by benefiting the below charities - Farms for City Children & Midlands Air Ambulance.

Alec was passionate about his animals and farming in general. From a very early age, he could be found busy in our fields tending his sheep, sowing grass for the next year (or stacking bricks :) ). In more recent years, he had bred his own foals, reared countless sheep and only 2 weeks ago expanded with 6 calves to his flock!

He and Brittany were planning a future eventually in agriculture, although he was a first class paint sprayer at Chatham Horse Boxes with his Dad and Will. He took enormous pride in his work.

Whilst Alec was a man of the land, he was a gentle soul and loved his family deeply, always there for every single one of them. Whether this be singing with his Mum in the kitchen, watching Heartbeat with his Dad, helping his sisters with flat tyres, DIY disasters, rescue missions, he and Brittany taking their nieces and nephews on holiday - anything that needed dealing with. He had a wicked sense of humour and was the king of banter. One of the highlights of his life was seeing Phoenix Nights live - a night he never forgot and regularly quoted. Al would usually be wearing his headphones listening to a very varied catalogue of music, from his absolute favourite The Streets, to disco fever to rap music - anything and everything in-between. His moves on the dance floor were legendary and wont be forgotten. He loved his football and visited the Moss Rose from the age of 6, always a Silkman but did go to the Etihad to support City.

He was very moral and had a huge social conscience, hated bullies and injustice, very aware how fortunate he was to live the life he did. This along with Brittany's work as a paediatric critical care nurse made him even more aware of the less fortunate. Therefore, we feel it is fitting to support a charity that embodies Alec's beliefs in his memory - Farms for City Children.

The service that the Midlands Air Ambulance provide is vital. They do not receive NHS funding and you may need them one day - we never thought we would need an air ambulance. The work all the air ambulance services provide is vital.

Please support either of these causes in Alec's memory.

If you would like to share to your memories of Alec on this page, then please feel free to do so.

Thank you for everyone's support and condolences, beautiful flowers, cards, cooked meals & cakes and messages from far and wide.
