Story

Despite 2022 looking like the busiest in our history with lots of expansion plans, we are pushing ourselves to give back to the local community with a series of monthly fundraising challenges.

The 6 Months of Giving Challenge will give our team an incredible opportunity to raise money with some unforgettable experiences along the way.

100% of donations will go to charity - Vuba will be paying all costs associated with the challenges including race entries, flights, accommodation for our participating employees.

After a series of votes, the Vuba team have decided to raise money for Dove House Hospice, an amazing local charity which provides vital end of life care to adults in the Hull and East Riding. Established for over 40 years, Dove House Hospice relies entirely on donations, which is why we’ve set ourselves an ambitious target to raise £10,000.

With crucial donations and support, Dove House Hospice can continue to offer specialist 24/7 care with the warmth, understanding and compassion that the organisation is celebrated for.

If you’re feeling particularly generous, you can head over to our JustGiving page, where you’ll be able to make a donation of your choice – no matter big or small, every little helps.

But, back to business - what will we be taking on during our 6 Months of Giving challenge you ask? Here goes...

#1 Conquering The Yorkshire Three Peaks

Our fundraising journey kicks off in February, when team Vuba will take on The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. This event will see us reach the summits of Pen-y-ghent (2,276ft), Whernside (2,415ft) and Ingleborough (2,372ft) in under 12 hours.

The 25-mile circular route is popular amongst avid hikers, and we’re ready for the challenge – even if we’re not ready for the winter weather!

#2 Giving Back for Dove House Hospice

In March, Vuba will take part in a Give Back Day as our way of honouring the fantastic care provided by Dove House Hospice. We’ll be offering our time to the hospice in any way we can, so you might see our team out and about collecting furniture donations, helping in the retail outlets, and volunteering over at Humber Wood.

We’re excited to give back to the local community and get a taste for life at Dove House.

#3 Lake Garda Half Marathon

In April we’ll be jetting off to Italy to take on the Lake Garda Half Marathon. Our route starts in the picturesque town of Arco, and ends in Malcesine, a small town that’s brimming with personality and vibrancy. We’ll be running 13.1 miles along a mountainous landscape regarded as one of the most beautiful locations in Europe, whilst simultaneously raising money for a much-valued charity. Win win!

#4 Taking on the Barcelona Marathon

We don’t stop there. Once we’ve tackled the half marathon, we’ll push ourselves to the limit

in the Mediterranean heat with the Barcelona Marathon. A lively, scenic and monumental route, the marathon will guide us through landmarks such as Camp Nou, Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló. Let’s hope our legs will last.

#5 10,000ft Freefall

Next stop, skydive. If the Barcelona Marathon doesn’t turn our legs to jelly, this sure will. In June, team Vuba will jump from around 10,000ft and hit speeds of roughly 120mph.

This will be an exhilarating experience for us all and we can’t wait to see who the daredevils among the Vuba team are, who are your bets on?

#6 Tackling Tough Mudder

In July we’ll complete our 6 Months of Giving challenge, taking part in the Yorkshire Tough Mudder 10k. Packed with 20 world-famous obstacles, Tough Mudder is the perfect mix of distance and challenge.

Our team can’t wait to get stuck in – and hopefully share some priceless action shots!

Over the course of the challenge we’ll be sharing updates across our social media, so don’t forget to check in on our Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages.

To support us with our target of raising £10,000 for Dove House Hospice, you can make a donation on our JustGiving page. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped raise money so far – we really appreciate it.
