Story
Over three weeks/four weekends between 28th of April and 18th of May, I will undertake four challenges across Scotland, England and Wales, to raise much needed funds to share between Brain Tumour Research & Kilbryde Hospice.
These two charities are extremely close to my heart as over the past 15 years, I have lost four members of my family, including two in the last nine months, to Glioblastoma brain tumours.
So, in memory of my Mum Margaret and Sister Angie, her son (my Nephew) Max, and my cousin David, I will be doing the following challenges over three weeks:
Sunday 28th April, Glasgow Kiltwalk 14.2 Miles - Done!
Saturday 4th May, Ben Nevis climb, 4413 ft - Done!
Saturday 11th May, Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa climb, 3560 ft - Done!
Saturday 18th May, Derwent Water swim, 4600m
Donations to Kilbryde Hospice will allow them to continue the excellent in-patient palliative care that they provided to my Nephew, Max in his final months when he passed away aged 19, last summer.
Donations to Brain Tumour Research will allow them to continue their much-needed research into this horrible condition which kills more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
Please help me fund the fight.
I would be grateful if you could share and delighted if you could donate.
Thanks
Update, all the land-based activities are now complete with just the swim to go. Quite the contrast between Ben Nevis and Yr Wyddfa. Snow blindness to sun burn in the space of a week!
Holding up well though I may be minus a couple of toenails by the time it's all over.
Onwards and upwards!
