Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After suffering from some headaches & nausea for a few weeks, doctors found a large mass at the back of my brain on the 11th July 2022. Straight away, I became an inpatient on Galaxy Ward at Barnet Hospital who looked after me very well while I awaited a bed at Great Ormond Street Hospital. I moved there on the 14th July & had brain surgery to remove the tumour (which I named “Grumpy”) on 18th July. Rather amazingly, I was home 3 days later and am recovering very well. On the 28th July 2022 my very wonderful neurosurgeon confirmed he had removed all of the tumour, which was found to be a grade 1 pylocytic astrocytoma. Although it doesn’t sound it, that is good news and means I need no further treatment except fairly regular MRIs to monitor for the small chance of regrowth.
I am really keen to say thank you for the great care I received and to give other children the same opportunities to be cured that I have been lucky enough to be given. So, I want to raise funds for Great Ormond Street and Barnet Hospitals (part of the Royal Free Trust) by completing 18 challenges across August. I have chosen 18 to represent the 18 days from my initial diagnosis to my ‘all-clear’. My chosen challenges (which will be spread across the whole month as I continue my recovery) are :
1.) Walk 18 miles
2.) Play 18 minutes of football
3.) Read 18 books
4.) Eat 18 different types of fruit & vegetables
5.) Pick up 18 pieces of litter
6.) Do 18 sums
7.) Do 18 star jumps
8.) Do 18 good deeds
9.) Write 18 sentences
10.) Score 18 goals against Mummy
11.) Tell 18 jokes
12.) Go to 18 new places
13.) Help Mummy 18 times
14.) 18 minutes of dancing
15.) Play 18 board games
16.) Do 18 squats
17.) 18 minutes of meditation
18.) Play 18 minutes of tennis
If you are able to donate, you can choose whether to give to the Royal Free or GOSH as I have 2 separate (but linked) accounts. Thank you. Every penny counts!
