Story
On Saturday 19th June we will be taking part in Chase the Sun in memory of Rufus's Dad, Christopher Morgan. Chris very sadly passed away in January at only 64 years old, after a two-year battle with Leukemia.
We'll be raising money for an incredible charity called Hope Against Cancer.
Hope Against Cancer is Leicestershire and Rutland’s local cancer research charity. They fund cutting-edge research in the area and have made clinical trials available to local people.
The funding of research leads to improved treatments and better outcomes, and this research played a major role in the extension of life for Chris, giving him and his family time together that they would not have otherwise had. The gift of time is something very special, and supporting Hope Against Cancer will help to give those currently suffering, and those that will no doubt suffer in the future, support and hope that amongst the darkness there is light.
Chris absolutely loved sport and the great outdoors, and cycling was one of his favourite pastimes. This is why we've chosen to take part in this challenge and we believe that by raising money for Hope Against Cancer, we can - in a small way - offer hope to those who are having to face challenges like the ones Chris so bravely and quietly tackled.
The 205-mile / 330-km cycling route for Chase the Sun runs from the Thames estuary through South London and passes Richmond park. It then winds through to the West Country, passing the Vale of Pewsey, the Mendip Hills and Cheddar Gorge before finishing at Burnham on Sea. The route includes 3,000m of climbing (no easy feat on any day) and is likely to take in the region of 14hrs. The Sun Rises in the East at 4.41am and sets in the West at 21.33.
Charities like this really do make a difference to so many people. Please do offer any support you can - your donation, no matter how small, will help to give people hope against cancer.
Thank you,
Rufus
