We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Thank you for visiting our ‘Going for Gold’ team page.

We are taking on this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon in support of our friend, hockey legend Imran Sherwani who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

In 1988, our team Captain Steve helped set up Imran with the third goal in the 3-1 win over West Germany that led to the iconic ‘Where were the Germans but frankly who cares?’ commentary from Barry Davies.

Eight of us make up the team running for ARUK, along with a huge groundswell of support from other hockey players, friends and media around the UK that remember Imran and the 88 team.

We are incredibly grateful for any donation you can make to support Alzheimer’s Research UK. The training will be tough, but we will keep Imran and every other family impacted by dementia firmly in our minds.

Thank you!

Steve and the team.
