Story
On Sunday 24 September we're swimming for Team Domenica to help young people with learning disabilities find paid employment and reach their full potential.
Both Oskar and Charlotte have benefitted massively from this incredible charity and have managed to find paid work. All three of us (as Team Dolphin!) are taking part in this challenge to help others discover their true potential and find independence and empowerment through work.
Our target is £500 for the 3 of us, but we hope to raise more. We're all swimming different lengths, so whatever you can donate as sponsorship is greatly appreciated!
Just 5.1% of people with learning disabilities are in work in England. You can help us to change that statistic, and support young people like Charlotte and Oskar to achieve their ambitions, by donating to our swim challenge today.
Team Domenica is a charity based in Brighton & Hove that supports young people with learning disabilities to build the skills, confidence and independence they need to find paid work. What they are doing is working - 84% of their candidates progressing into employment through their programmes.
"My experiences helped me get my job at the Grand.... It was good [working with my job coach]. She helped me to do the saucers and cups and a few weeks later, she stepped back a bit and let me be independent... My hope in the future is to be a barman working all over the word." –Bradley
