Story
CLIC Sargent is a charity supporting children who have cancer. Can you imagine the turmoil and distress that descends when you realise your child has cancer, not to mention the distress of your child. At a time when a child needs the reassurance and strong support they are used to from their parents, CLIC Sargent steps in to support the family, because the parents have also had their World turned upside down. Liz and Andrew work for Focus-Trust. Liz is the Executive Head at Thornton and Wilsden Primary Schools and Andrew is Head of School at Wilsden Primary. Wilsden families donated toys to CLIC Sargent in December 2020 and Andrew realised that there was much more he could do and much more needed by the charity. He mulled things over for a little while, thinking of doing a half marathon to raise funds, one day just realising he should take the plunge so he shared his intentions and there was no turning back.
Then an ex colleague of both Andrew and Liz got in touch to describe how CLIC Sargent is currently supporting her family. That was enough to make Liz think she should do something too, so on a Friday evening in March 2021, Liz and Andrew decided they would share a full marathon between them to support children fighting cancer. And so, 'CLIC on Us' came into being.
There's no words to describe the fear and trepidation felt, especially by Liz who hasn't run anywhere since a fast sprint for the last bus as a teenager! However, the commitment is what will get them through this and the knowledge that more children and families will receive the support they need. Please dig deep and donate to this worthy cause and we will share our progress with you and let you know when this marathon will happen. Thank you!!
