Story
Denise Graham Team Captain of Betty's Warriors was diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer at Easter 2021, she was only 44 years old, mother to two daughters Charlotte who was just 8 at that time and Harriet who was only 5.
Denise had emergency lifesaving surgery to remove the huge tumour from her bowel the very day she was rushed into hospital. She was later told the devastating news that the cancer had also spread to her liver and the final blow being that she also had a braf gene mutation. Denise had a triplet regime of chemotherapy throughout the summer and was extremely pleased to find out that the chemo had been successful and was eligible for liver surgery. She had a liver resection in Oct 2021 and is currently cancer free. Denise wants to help raise awareness that Bowel Cancer doesn't just happen to the older generation.
Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity and we're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.
Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer with more than 16,500 people dying annually of a disease that is preventable, treatable and curable. We're determined to change that. The funds raised will help us to provide support and information to patients and their families, enable us to fund and support research into bowel cancer and allow us to campaign for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.
